The Chandler Foundation and Adeso’s session at Catalysing Change Week will explore the theme of Action. We welcome all ideas, feedback, and partnership. Systems Change in Action: Decolonising Aid & Philanthropy Severe disparities exist in the funding structures that support international humanitarian aid and development. While billions of dollars flow to fund programs in the Global South, local communities only see only a fraction of it. Despite what seemed to be real commitments at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in 2016, the world is nowhere near the stated goal of 25 percent of funding going directly to local organisations in the Global South. Nevertheless, with the appointment of Samantha Power to Administrator in 2021, USAID has reconfirmed its pledge to earmark 25 percent of funds directly to local organisations within the next four years. This session will bring together key leaders in the growing movement towards the decolonisation of aid who will lay out concrete ways to reform and rework the global humanitarian and development system at all levels. Please register for this session and add it to your calendar to receive a Zoom link.
