“Goonj has been working towards sustainable economic models for eliminating poverty and related issues in India. Vikalp Sutra is an initiative of Vikalp Sangam that was formulated after the 1st wave of the COVID 19 pandemic to work on the challenges faced by migrant and labour communities of India, as a collective action group for dignified livelihoods. The session will focus on listening to 5 main possibilities of change in rural India in order create more equitable, wholistic and self-sufficient ecosystems for the wholistic well-being of a community & society. The session shall discuss the following key possibilities with practitioners from rural India of Bihar, Sikkim, Chattisgarh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh : 1. Rural Products & Services by Rural India for Rural India 2. Urban Surplus creating rural livelihoods 3. Rural Youth as leaders of change for their communities 4. Rural Education for Rural India 5. Collective Action & Network creation to support and advocate for rural initiatives. The session will culminate with a discussion on HOW TO CREATE A INDEPENDENT RURAL ENTREPRENUERSHIP MODEL FOR RURAL MARKETS?”
