This session is based on 2 years’ research, which has identified the efficiency opportunities from doing development differently: relieve hunger, reduce poverty and help build sustainable communities. The stories we have gathered demonstrate the multiplier in wellbeing from local people helping themselves. Sometimes called ‘localisation’, it seems that the development sector recognises this opportunity but is gridlocked and unable to make the change. The application of Good Management Practice [GMP] to development can overcome this impasse; what is needed is a new operating model and scale demonstration of its effectiveness. We will tell the stories, provide the new model vision of GMP for the sector and promote collaboration to ‘just do it’!
