Sharing Catalyst 2030’s ‘honest broker’ approach to shift the current funding ecosystem. The current ecosystem fails to address the complexity, scale and time horizons associated with systems change. There are millions of individuals and organisations worldwide working to increase innovation, address system failures, and advance social good. What can we do to ensure that they have a chance to realise their full potential? What can we do to move away from a strictly programme building mentality, to one that also focuses on growing individuals, leaders and organisations? As an international movement of social entrepreneurs, impact actors, and funders, Catalyst 2030 is uniquely positioned to create the space to connect initiatives, and enable collaboration and co-creation towards a shared vision. This session will highlight the work of several distinct initiatives working in this space within collaborations formed with Catalyst 2030 and other aligned initiatives beyond the movement, all of which are working to shift the current funding paradigm. Through showcasing initiatives and active participation, we hope to identify further initiatives and actors in this space, offering connection with this broader movement. In doing so, Catalyst 2030 will continue to play its role as an honest broker and highlight the impact that this role can have in promoting systems change more broadly. We invite people who are working actively towards shifting the funding paradigm – including foundations, private capital funders, philanthropists, intermediaries – and social entrepreneurs to join us for this session. Together, we have the power to shift the current funding system and create one that is better for people and the planet – accelerating progress towards the SDGs.
