Speakers’ Bios: 1. Rana Dajani: Professor of molecular cell biology, Hashemite University, Jordan, Harvard Radcliff fellow, a Fulbrighter, Eisenhower fellow, Yale and Cambridge visiting professor. Research area: refugee youth and the epigenetics of trauma across generations and world expert on genetics of Circassian and Chechan populations in Jordan. Established stem cell research ethics law in Jordan. Advocate for biological evolution and Islam, Member UN women Jordan advisory council. Established a women mentor network, and received Partnerships for enhanced engagement in research (PEER) award 2014. Organized the first gender summit for the Arab world 2017. Most influential women scientists in Islamic World, 12 among100 the most influential Arab women, Global Changemaker Award for celebrating, President of the Society for the Advancement of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Arab World. Awarded the Jordan star of science by His Majesty King Abdullah II. Tariq Al-Olaimy: co-founder of 3BL Associates. For his work with 3BL, Tariq was named as one of 10 Muslim men shaping the world by Mvslim.com, and was the first per- son from the MENA region to be recognized by GreenBiz and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, as one of their “30 under 30” leaders for breaking new ground in sustainability innovation. Last year, Tariq was also honored as one of 22 Climate Trailblazers worldwide by the Global Climate Action Summit, and recognized as an Expo 2020 Global Innovator. As an educator at heart, Tariq is a certified Ubuntu Peer Peace Coach through the Archbishop DesmondTutu Foundation, a former TEDx curator, and is a co-chair of UNESCO’s Global Action Program on Education for Sustainable Development Partner Network. Tariq is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, sits on the board of AIESEC in Bahrain, and serves on the Global Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum ‘s Global Shapers Community. He has conducted sustainability workshops and trainings across six different continents. As a sustainability and youth education policy advocate within the International Climate Movement, he has worked with UN organizations such as UNESCO, UNFCCC, UNDP, and UNEP towards the Post-2015 Development Agenda (SDGs). Tariq holds a BSc. in Investment and Financial Risk Management from Cass Business School London, has graduated from the Singularity University Executive Program, and is among the first 100 people in the world to complete a specialization in the field of Biomimicry. 3. Hatem Bazian: Co-founder and Professor of Islamic Law and Theology at Zaytuna College, the 1st Accredited Muslim Liberal Arts College in the United States. In addition, Prof. Bazian is a lecturer in the Departments of Near Eastern and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Bazian between 2002-2007, also served as an adjunct professor of law at Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. In Spring 2009, Dr. Bazian founded at Berkeley the Islamophobia Research and Documentation Project at the Center for Race and Gender, a research unit dedicated to the systematic study of Othering Islam and Muslims. Prof. Bazian in Spring 2012 launched the Islamophobia Studies Journal, which is published bi-annually by Pluto Press and authored five books, hundreds of articles and a constant contributor to public debates. 4. Jason Jacobs: has an international reputation as a historian of television drama, its institutions, technology and aesthetics. He has taught film and television studies at the University of East Anglia, the University of Warwick, and Griffith University. His first book, The Intimate Screen (Oxford University Press, 2000) is a pioneering study of early television drama; his second book Body Trauma TV (British -Film Institute, 2003) explores the aesthetics of the hospital drama in relation to the contemporary cultural imagination. More recently he published Deadwood (Palgrave Macmillan/British Film Institute, 2012), as part of the BFI TV Classics series. He is currently working on an Australian Research Council funded project called “The Persistence of Television: How the Medium Adapts to Survive in the Digital World”…

From Empathy to Gratitude is the theme for Hong Kong Momtrepreneurs in 2021/22 to demonstrate that empathy and gratitude – traits commonly found in mothers – can be the quality that makes mothers better leaders not only at home but also at workplaces and the community. Do mothers make better leaders at work? In this session, we will share our findings and thoughts on this topic. We will examine and discuss from the contexts of biological / psychological, social, cultural and historical perspectives from an Asian point of view.

Vključevanje v cilje trajnostnega razvoja 2030

Lanska rast BDP v evrskem obmocju in EU je po tretji oceni 5,3-odstotna, je objavil Eurostat. Lanska 5,3-odstotna gospodarska rast v evrskem obmocju in celotni uniji sledi 6,4-odstotnemu koronskemu padcu v 2020 v obmocju skupne valute in 5,9-odstotnemu zmanjsanju v vsej sedemindvajseterici. Zaposlenost v obmocju evra se je v letu 2021 povecala za 1,1 odstotka, v celotni EU pa za 1,2 odstotka. Stevilo zaposlenih se je v zadnjem lanskem cetrtletju glede na cetrtletje prej tako v evrskem obmocju kot v EU povecalo za pol odstotka, medletna primerjava pa kaze 2,2- oziroma 2,1-odstotno rast. Stevilo dolgotrajno brezposelnih se je leta 2021 napram letu 2020 v Sloveniji zmanjsalo, a se vedno obsega 37.179 oseb. Med njimi je celo več kot 10.000 oseb, ki so brezposelni vec kot 5 let ali vec. Socialna ekonomija in socialno podjetnistvo je tisti del podjetnistva, ki ustvarjajo v druzbi poleg delovnih mest pozitivne ucinke na nacin, da skusajo resevati oz. se vsaj soociti s problem v druzbi. V okviru tematske delavnice bomo skusali predstaviti problem dolgotrajno brezposelnih oseb, s kaksnimi tezavami se soocajo, kako jih premagujejo in na kaksen nacin jih lahko socialna ekonomija vkljucuje na trg delovne sile z namenom po eni strani povecanja BDP Slovenije in po drugi strani za izpolnjevanje zivljenjskih ciljev posameznikov. Poleg tega pa se bomo pogovarjali tudi o izpolnjevanju ciljev trajnostnega razvoja 2030, ki obsega spolno enakopravnost na trgu delovne sile, pravica do dostojnega dela in placila, ekonomske rasti in zmanjsevanja enakopravnosti.

Civil society and governments can do so much. When talking about change in a country as large as India in terms of population, need and diversity, we need all hands on deck. This session focuses on identifying stakeholders that are beyond governments, schools, educators and students when it comes to systemic education change. The session will entail a discussion about learnings and experiences from Adhyayan’s various projects and experiments such as the Peer Learning Project, Discussions with Donors, The Professional and Governance Learning Circles that have been aimed at trying to include more people at the table when it comes to bringing about catalytic change for the collective good.

The Complex as a Developmental Unit

As seen with the school complexes with Adhyayan’s work with the Systemic School Improvement Programme in Goa, this unit can be transformational. This session is aimed at bringing to light the stakeholders’ perspective and to hear from them what makes the complex a unit that can catalyse development and what it takes to build a strong foundational ecosystem for change.

What does Systemic Change look like in a remote region?

Systemic change is multidimensional in itself but with an addition of an aspect of access and remoteness, the lens completely shifts. This session will share with you stories from Adhyayan’s work towards systemic school improvement in the two northeastern states of India, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh while highlighting stakeholder stories, challenges, unique phenomena and newer lenses that the teams had to pick up to make ‘quality education’ a possibility in such remote regions.

Roadmap to Fighting Hunger

The aim of the session is to recognize the serious and often unknown consequences of hunger, and to develop concrete actionable plans to formalize a roadmap to fighting hunger. Hunger is not just about ‘feeling hungry’. It is also about lowered immunity and recurrent infections. Infections such as worm infestation and diarrhea lead to further loss of nutrients in the body. This is a vicious circle. The biggest challenge is micronutrient deficiency. Lack of vitamin A in the diet leads to permanent blindness in 1 million children every year, and 250 million children are at risk. The panelists will focus on the link between SDGs 1,2 and 3, and demonstrate how hunger leads to poverty, sickness, lack of education, and job opportunities, all of which aggravate hunger. Speakers will also present a potential roadmap for next steps – on how different stakeholders can make a difference, and and how one can effectively build partnerships with local grassroots NGOs, donors, government, and policymakers, and mobilize resources to end hunger.
