Shoe Waste & The Future Of Footwear

Roundtable discussion with industry experts about the future of footwear and fashion waste management. Starting with a virtual presentation including slides of current fashion footwear trends, discovering sustainable efforts, recognising problems in the manufacture of footwear and consumer behaviour, followed by a discussion amongst the guests of how we can take steps to reduce shoe waste in landfills and how companies can participate in the clean-up by using a clear fashion waste management system. Closing will be a short time for Q&A from the audience. Topics like ESG, EPR, SDG will be touched and guests will discuss actions towards achieving these goals.

Leveraging Exponential Change Through Broad-Impact Philanthropy

A lot has been said about Big-Bet Philanthropy. But what about Broad Bet-Philanthropy? What about attaining a broader impact across multiple thematic and geographic verticals? For example, we can help one or two nonprofits or social-good organisations. But what about supporting the infrastructure to help hundreds of thousands of them across the globe? This is not only possible, it has been happening for a long time. But we have only scratched the surface of what is possible. What about significantly improving how we spend billions of dollars every year by helping funders give their money away more ethically, equitably and efficiently? This is happening too, but only to a fraction of the extent that it could be. One of the biggest problems is that funders are too focused on programs, not on enabling capable organisations and leaders to grow and achieve their potential. We need messengers, and many of them to join our Collaborative Media Campaign. We need to make a strong, persuasive case to the public and institutional funders. We need to dramatically change how we think about giving away money so that organisations most capable get the support they need to achieve broad and sizeable next-level change. Please join us!

Creating a funding ecosystem that enables social entrepreneurs to flourish

Funding systems change and transformation requires a fundament innovation in financing. The basic goal is to greatly increase the financing scale and ease of access, while baking in equity. But this requires new metrics, new ways to aggregate and blend various sources of financing, new ways of brokering funder-recipient relationships…it requires a new system that we call “ecosystems for financing transformation” (EFTs). This event builds on a report from Catalyst2030’s Next Economies Innovation Working Group that revealed “transformation finance” as transformation of a system, in contrast to “progressive finance” which is adjustments to the system. It also identified examples of EFTs. Come and learn about the emerging system for financing social entrepreneurs’ systems change, and the people who are making it happen!

Socialism-capitalism-communism are 19th century approaches to economies. Social entrepreneurs are producing an eruption of new approaches to economies, with labels such as regenerative-, circular-, doughnut-, buen vivir, and well being. They are ushering in a huge paradigm shift from the 19th century approaches of socialism-capitalism-communism. The shift represents an enormous desire for deep change, to realize socially equitable and environmentally flourishing economies. But how to get there? The Next Economies Working Group of Catalyst2030 is advancing a strategy designed around fundamental innovations that the new labels are developing. This workshop will share its strategy and the work of its Narrative, Business Structures and Finance Subgroups. We welcome you to participate in breakouts with each of these subgroups to bring your innovations, learn about others, and the strategy to accelerate the paradigm shift.
