Se brindarán recomendaciones sobre cómo mitigar, prevenir y responder al cambio climático en el contexto caribeño. Se vislumbra que el profesor de Salud Ambiental, Pablo Méndez Lázaro, de la Escuela Graduada de Salud Pública de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Ciencias Médicas presentará una conferencia sobre los temas antes expuestos. PD. Esta sesión será parte de las sesiones que se darán en la Escuela Graduada de Salud Pública de la UPR.

Youth Social Innovation in Emerging Markets: A Case Study from Kenya & Haiti

The key to accelerating social change in emerging markets lies in leveraging the abundance of resources that already exist within those contexts. Among these are young people’s passion and innovative ideas for developing their communities. This interactive panel discussion will highlight 4 social entrepreneurs under the age of 26 that have started and grown highly impactful ventures in Haiti and Kenya. These ventures range from education nonprofits to digital platforms, sustainability consultancies to tech startups. They will discuss their trajectories as young social entrepreneurs and the work that they are doing, the importance of leveraging local resources for effective impact in emerging markets and the challenges they face, as well as taking questions from the audience.

Impact Happy Ideas for The Great Reset

As we enter a unique phase in the timeline of evolution of our species, join Impact Action Group lead Gautam Malik and an expert panel of speakers in a discussion on how their work creates positive impact by addressing SDGs on gender equality, responsible consumption and production, climate action and ecosystem building in an effort to shape the recovery and help reimagine our future. The session brings together 5 unique social enterprises that are each combining the 5P framework (people, prosperity, planet, partnership and peace) and the 3R approach (reduce, reuse, recycle) to directly address social equity, climate action and ecosystem building along with 12 other SDGs through their work. We have planned a hybrid session where attendees will get to participate in a panel discussion, watch short films on our work, share their thoughts on the world’s most challenging issues and get the opportunity to network with a diverse group of stakeholders and change makers from around the world. Topics like Circular Economy, Waste Management, Regenerative Design, Creative Reuse, Ecosystem Building, Role of Comics & Films in Social Change and other trends will be discussed along with actions towards achieving specific goals.

#WASHPAP2030 – Youth Leadership For Solving Global Challenges

Over the past year and a half, youth leaders involved with the OneShared.World movement have taken the lead in addressing one of the world’s most pressing issues – the intersection of WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) with PAP (pandemic protection). Having successfully inserted language into a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly in December 2021, in this session, these young leaders will demonstrate how a successful campaign can be ideated, accomplished, implemented, and recognized by leaders across the globe. Additionally, through an advocacy training guide developed by these youth leaders, they will empower and enable young people from around the world to find and understand local, meaningful ways through which advocacy can be successful.

Journée d’Assainissement et d’enlèvement des points noirs dans Conakry

En collaboration avec les autorités communales, administratives locales, les leaders religieux et d’opinions; les ONGS locales, nous procèderons à la sensibilisation de masse et porte à porte de la population de la commune afin de prendre conscience des méfaits de l’insalubrité. Ensuite, nous allons avec l’aide des PME de collecte d’ordure, ramasser les ordures dans les dépôts sauvages (points noirs) pour les transporter dans les Zones de Tri et de Transit. Enfin, mettre des pancartes d’interdiction de dépôt d’ordure.

Food Security as a byproduct of environmental stewardship

The medium-term development goal of the project is to enhance the ability of communities to increase and sustain agricultural production for improved household food security, nutrition and income generation while at the same time safeguarding the environment by adopting sustainable agroforestry, environmental, climate and agricultural practices and appropriate technologies in order to avert climate change and contribute to the improvement of education, food in/security, eradication of poverty. The aim is to foster a lasting high quality of life for the local people in Teso while safeguarding long-term environmental sustainability by growing fruits (including fruit and multi-purpose trees) and promoting agroforestry systems by growing trees and fruit.
