]]> The Social Sector is a partner in achievening the SGD’s. They provide last mile delivery of essential services in the most difficult circumstances, in developing and developed countries. In times of war and natural disaster, it is these individuals and organisations, who provide relief. Yet they fail to receive the trust and cooperation that would enable them and governments to do more. Is there a need to change the narrative, build transparency and trust between, the state and the Non-Government Organisations. This session explores the vital role that social innovators, bilateral and multi-lateral organisations play in achieving the SDG’s. This will be a conversation with H.E. Omar Saif Ghobash, Dr. Bruno Maçães and Dr. Shashi Tharoor, moderated by Sanjoy Roy.

This session will highlight opportunities for collaborative system change and introduce two new initiatives: the Corporate Council and the Catalyst Business Commitment. ]]> Ahead of COP27 in Egypt, we call on Ministers of Environment to be part of the process of co-creating and committing to a South-South Alliance for Equitable Green Development together with social entrepreneurs. We welcome your thoughts on how best we can address the inequity of finance/ funding of climate-smart solutions, tap into the opportunities that climate management can provide for development and employment, and chart a pathway for the G7 and G20 to make a substantial and historical contribution. The South-South Alliance for Equitable Green Development will welcome engagement from those across sectors who not only pledge allegiance but demonstrate tangible action for change. Then the work will really begin to formulate an action plan for COP27 and beyond. We welcome you into this process.

]]> The aim of the session is to recognize the serious and often unknown consequences of hunger, and to develop concrete actionable plans to formalize a roadmap to fighting hunger. Hunger is not just about ‘feeling hungry’. It is also about lowered immunity and recurrent infections. Infections such as worm infestation and diarrhea lead to further loss of nutrients in the body. This is a vicious circle. The biggest challenge is micronutrient deficiency. Lack of vitamin A in the diet leads to permanent blindness in 1 million children every year, and 250 million children are at risk. The panelists will focus on the link between SDGs 1,2 and 3, and demonstrate how hunger leads to poverty, sickness, lack of education, and job opportunities, all of which aggravate hunger. Speakers will also present a potential roadmap for next steps – on how different stakeholders can make a difference, and and how one can effectively build partnerships with local grassroots NGOs, donors, government, and policymakers, and mobilize resources to end hunger.

For this purpose, collaborative and interactive digital platforms will be used during the panel in order to foster teamwork and networking. Participants will learn about innovative programs, tools and resources to activate systemic innovation and climate action in their learning ecosystems and environments.
