]]> Participants can learn from the two approaches in supporting children and teenagers who experience difficulties in their primary and secondary school learning. One approach involves offering ethnic minority children supplementary learning support outside school to enhance their Chinese language competence for catching up in the indigenous school curriculum. Another approach involves a collaborative intervention with schools by placing university graduate mentors in schools to enrich the curriculum teaching and mentoring. Board members of each organisation will share the importance of Board involvement. Impacts of both approaches will also be shared.

]]> The event will propose an emerging model that Creative Dignity ( CD ) is developing with Digital Empowerment Foundation ( DEF ) to nurture artisan youth at the cluster level in building digital services that link self-organised artisan units to a digital community of stakeholders. The event will draw on DEF’s experience in digital empowerment of 20 years, along with CD’s vision of building agency for artisan communities. Given that 90% of artisans are self-organised micro entrepreneurs, this could be a model to position as the new formal. The event proposes a discussion around the challenges and opportunities as well as a soft launch of this model.

]]> A critical lens missing from most education reform narratives, particularly in India, is cildhood adversity and how education ecosystems need to transform, adapt and be better prepared to respond to this fundamental challenge. However, young people have tremendous capacity for resiliece to adversity provided they are given the right support. Dream a Dream, an innovative, globally recognized education nonprofit in India, shows how youth from disadvantaged backgrounds can thrive and fulfill their potential. Through powerful stories of young people overcoming adversity, Dream a Dream is changing the script and redefining what success can look like. Key takeaways & Outline: 1) Implications of the challenges the young person lived through and; 2) Aspects of the life skills programme, pedagogical approaches and principles of engagement which helped young people thrive in life; 3) Evidence-acked approaches that are being offered to state governments across India to transform education and inform global education reform practices.

The panel, chaired by Vickie Wambura the Chair of the Impact Makers Advisory Board (IMAB), and featuring two youth social entrepreneurs Paulo Mpokwa and Nima Kassim and their experiences operating in the tech and gender sectors of entrepreneurship and two organizations representing fundings groups within the social entrepreneurship impact ecosystem. Will discuss the recommendation actions identified by young entrepreneurs and funders at Digital Opportunity Trust’s (DOT) IMAB Launch Event that took place on March 17th. Followed by engagement of session participants to reinforce action points, around diversity in funding selection boards to include young entrepreneurs.
