With the largest youth population in history, there is an unprecedented opportunity for young people to take an active role in shaping the future. This generation has inherited enormous global challenges but has the ability to confront the status quo and offer youth-led solutions for change. The Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. How can the Catalyst community and the Global Shapers Community work together to support the next generation of social innovators and create a platform for intergenerational collaboration and learning?

The current discourse about data, which is being mass accumulated, aggregated and processed around the world, inevitably raises the question of what is the extent to which all this powerful information transcends the core principle of human rights, thus further widening the gap of the ever-growing challenges with inequality. It is undeniable that most of the data is nowadays being managed and controlled by developed economies, within which powerful actors have been leveraging its potential as a saleable commodity in the world economy, mostly for private wealth, often to the detriment of the billions of people and communities worldwide. We are also seeing a massive data imbalance. Data is expensive and relatively hard to obtain, thus favouring big companies and organisations to invest in a large amount of data and infrastructure for greater data control. Indeed, not complying with the established rules and guidelines about data privacy is the root cause of why such colonisation of data is possible. The Catalyst 2030 community, among many other organisations and individuals working in the social economy, relies on mass information; For people and organisations working towards a SE, the SDGs, and sustainable development, collecting and analysing data enables us to generate deep insights we need to guide our initiatives and innovation toward, thus improving our overall resource efficiency. Hence, in the silos of large multilateral organisations and on the ground through NGO and Citizen sector organisations, the sector controls much of such meaningful data, which enables us to learn about the challenges and work with people, communities, and nations worldwide proactively and collaboratively addressing these. As such, we must enact upon shared principles of data ownership, privacy and control; if not, we might become marginalised by large players in the world economy and potentially lose control of all this invaluable information.

An interactive live demonstration of The Privilege Framework – a universally applicable open source community-driven assessment tool. Social entrepreneurs are aware that people have privilege when they are able to live with dignity. Inequity is measured by the numbers and the distance between the under-privileged and the over-privileged. We want a future that has harmony and thriving for the entire ecosystem. If every life form on the planet is given the same due as humans, then we begin to assess more than just human privilege. The Privilege Framework is being trialled by WG4:People Driven Development as a universally applicable open source self-assessment and response tool for a community. We invite you to be a co-creator.

Competition is part of the old system that must change to achieve the SDGs. However, as we shift the paradigm towards greater collaboration, there are few roadmaps to follow. We need practical tools, processes and examples to accelerate this change. Join this interactive session exploring barriers and opportunities to create greater collaboration within and beyond the development sector. Building on a case study of an innovative partnership between the entrepreneurship training organization Street Business School and global NGO BRAC, we will look at how partnership challenges were overcome and then crowd source your challenges and triumphs in creating authentic partnerships to build the roadmap. Walk away from this session with tools to create powerful collaborations that you can put into practice tomorrow to accelerate your – and others – progress towards the SDGs.

It is a story of growing a shared understanding of governance and change in social ecosystems realising the magnitude of silent transformation in metamorphic fields. It is a story of the co-reflected experience of deeply human relationships. It is a co-created and co-facilitated process of inquiry, learning, and understanding, embedded in epistemic humility, trusting our human potential, trusting our humanity, realising the existentiality of love. It is the story of growing a humanising society. It is also a story of the ongoing process of Tamkeen growing its understanding of its own understanding in the mirror of systems science. And it is the story of how systems research reflects itself in the mirror of Tamkeen.
