It is undeniable that the transition to a net positive, carbon-neutral society is a tough challenge for all of us and requires much of the current inter-sectoral collaboration and maximised efforts to be achieved. Following the COP26 in Glasgow, we call on Ministers of Environment, organisations, businesses and individuals around the world to take part in the transition to net positive by co-creating and committing to tackle the pressing issues of climate change and eradicate its global effects. We welcome you to take part in this session with Paul Polman, a renowned author, investor, businessman, and co-founder of Imagine, a foundation that helps CEOs and the corporate world to tackle some of the most prominent social and environmental challenges.

Catalysts and Corporates: Accelerating Collaborative Systems Change

In the urgent effort to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Catalyst 2030 network has unique value to offer the private sector. This session will highlight opportunities for collaborative system change and introduce two new initiatives: the Corporate Council and the Catalyst Business Commitment. The Corporate Council will bring together private sector allies to find areas of alignment and identify new opportunities for collaboration. The Catalyst Business Commitment will recognize businesses that partner with social enterprises through system change funding, pro bono and discounted services, or social procurement. Circularity in Fashion: Incorporating Social and Inclusive Narratives

A gender lens approach in circularity can greatly benefit companies to identify solutions that can help them move toward SDG12, while also focusing on SDG5 and SDG8 and contributing to SDG1 and SDG 9. A great deal of importance has been given to understanding the environmental impact of the fashion industry and why the shift to circularity is important. Understanding based on circularity models such as recycling, rental, repair etc. But its also pivotal to consider the social dimension of this shift in this highly feminized and global value chain that goes to the grassroots level. Until now a tool to measure the social dimension in çircularity has been missing. Therefore, a special framework has been designed for businesses and advocates of sustainable fashion to understand the social impact of their operations. The session will coalesce with a fireside chat with 2 circular SMEs to discuss their challenges in incorporating social elements into their circular practice. The outcome of the session should be to provide evidence why it is important to work on a social-circular framework for change. It will show how a new tool can help companies/policymakers achieve different SDG such as, SDG1 (No Poverty), SDG5 (Gender Equality), SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), along with SDG12 (Responsible Production & Consumption).

Innovations for Economic Paradigm Shift

Socialism-capitalism-communism are 19th century approaches to economies. Social entrepreneurs are producing an eruption of new approaches to economies, with labels such as regenerative-, circular-, doughnut-, buen vivir, and well being. They are ushering in a huge paradigm shift from the 19th century approaches of socialism-capitalism-communism. The shift represents an enormous desire for deep change, to realize socially equitable and environmentally flourishing economies. But how to get there? The Next Economies Working Group of Catalyst2030 is advancing a strategy designed around fundamental innovations that the new labels are developing. This workshop will share its strategy and the work of its Narrative, Business Structures and Finance Subgroups. We welcome you to participate in breakouts with each of these subgroups to bring your innovations, learn about others, and the strategy to accelerate the paradigm shift.
